UniFi Access: what it is and what we can install
Access control for doors, gates, garages and lifts with card, PIN, phone or licence plate.
- Definition
- UniFi Access is Ubiquiti's access control system: readers, hubs and intercoms that open doors, gates, garages and lifts with NFC cards, PIN, phone, Apple/Google Wallet, QR code or licence plate, managed from the same UniFi console.
How it works
Each door is controlled by a hub (Door Hub, Door Hub Mini, Gate Hub or Enterprise Access Hub) that drives the lock or gate operator, plus one or more readers. Permissions are assigned by user, group, door and schedule.
Because it runs on the UniFi console, Access integrates with Protect: every unlock is logged with its video, and with the Gate Hub and a compatible AI camera the gate can open by licence plate.
Capabilities
What UniFi Access can do
Multiple credentials
NFC cards and fobs, PIN, the UniFi Identity app, Touch Pass in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, QR for visitors; fingerprint and face recognition on readers that support them.
Gates and garages
The Gate Hub controls sliding and swing gates, barriers and roll-up garage doors, plus a pedestrian door.
Licence plate unlock
License Plate Unlock: with the Gate Hub and a compatible Protect AI camera, authorised vehicles enter without a remote.
Intercoms
UniFi Intercom and G3 Intercom to receive visitors and open from your phone or an indoor viewer.
Schedules and visitors
Time-based permissions, temporary access and codes for visitors, suppliers or guests.
Logs and video
History of every unlock and, with Protect, the image of each event.

Important caveats
- Available credentials depend on the reader: not every reader supports fingerprint, face or QR. We choose the reader according to how each door is used.
- Licence plate unlock requires the Gate Hub and a compatible Protect AI camera (not 360° lenses), well positioned relative to the vehicle.
- Integration with existing gate operators is validated on site: it depends on the control panel's inputs/outputs.
Services
We install UniFi Access
Access control
Stop copying keys: each person opens the doors they're allowed to, at their times, with a card, PIN or phone, and everything is logged.
View serviceGates & garages
Open the gate or garage with your phone, a card or your car's licence plate, and stop handing out remotes nobody keeps track of.
View serviceLicence plate recognition
Log the plates that come and go and open automatically for authorised vehicles, without remotes or cards.
View serviceUniFi installation
We design, install and configure the whole UniFi infrastructure: from the Internet connection to the last camera or door reader, managed in a single app.

Questions about UniFi Access
Can I open the door with my phone?
Yes. With the UniFi Identity app or Touch Pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, depending on the installed reader.
Does it work for my community's garage door?
Yes, through the Gate Hub connected to the existing operator, as long as the control panel has an open input. We check it during the site visit.
What happens if the power or Internet goes down?
Without Internet, access control keeps working locally. During a power cut, behaviour depends on the lock (fail-safe or fail-secure) and whether there is a UPS; we define it according to each door's security needs.
Want UniFi Access in your project?
We design it, install it and leave it working with the rest of your infrastructure.
