UniFi Network: what it is and what we can install
Gateways, switches, WiFi and network security managed from a single console.
- Definition
- UniFi Network is Ubiquiti's application for managing the gateway, switches and WiFi access points of an installation from a single console, with remote access through UniFi Site Manager and no licences or subscriptions.
How it works
It is the foundation of every UniFi installation. The gateway (Cloud Gateway or Dream Machine) connects to the Internet and acts as firewall and router; switches distribute the wired network and power access points, cameras and readers over PoE; access points provide indoor and outdoor WiFi.
Everything is configured from the same application: networks and VLANs, firewall rules, guest WiFi, VPN and statistics for every connected device. The other applications (Protect, Access, Talk) can run on the same console.
Capabilities
What UniFi Network can do
VLAN segmentation
Separate networks for staff, guests, cameras, smart-home devices or POS. If one device is compromised, it can't see the rest.
Zone-Based Firewall
Networks are grouped into zones (LAN, WAN, guest, IoT) and you control what can talk to what.
IDS/IPS and content filtering
Threat detection and blocking plus category-based content filtering, depending on the gateway model.
Multi-WAN and backup
Two Internet lines with automatic failover, or 4G/5G backup with UniFi LTE/5G Backup on compatible devices.
VPN and Site Magic
Secure remote access (WireGuard, One-Click VPN) and licence-free multi-site connections with Site Magic.
Professional WiFi
WiFi 7 and WiFi 6 ceiling, wall, in-wall and outdoor access points with roaming and guest networks with a portal.
Remote management
Monitoring and changes from UniFi Site Manager (unifi.ui.com) and the mobile apps, without being on site.

Important caveats
- Advanced features (IDS/IPS throughput, device count, 10G ports, storage for recording) depend on the gateway model, which is why it is sized during design.
- Full WiFi 7 performance also requires compatible clients; older devices connect using the standard they support.
Services
We install UniFi Network
UniFi installation
We design, install and configure the whole UniFi infrastructure: from the Internet connection to the last camera or door reader, managed in a single app.
View serviceProfessional WiFi
Stable coverage in every room, the garden or the warehouse, with wired access points and a single network name you can move around without drop-outs.
View serviceStructured cabling & infrastructure
The foundation you don't see: the right category of cable, a tidy network cabinet, labelled outlets and switches that power everything else over PoE.

Questions about UniFi Network
Does UniFi Network have fees or licences?
No. The UniFi Network application and remote management through UniFi Site Manager require no licences or subscriptions. You pay for the hardware and, where applicable, installation and maintenance.
Do I need a Cloud Gateway to have a UniFi network?
It's recommended: the Cloud Gateway acts as router and firewall and hosts the management application. Other console options exist, but for new installations the gateway simplifies everything and can also run Protect or Access if the model supports it.
Can I keep my ISP's router?
In many cases the ISP router is set to bridge mode or placed in front of the UniFi gateway. We decide based on the line type (fibre, 5G, static IP) and the ISP's services such as TV or telephony.
Want UniFi Network in your project?
We design it, install it and leave it working with the rest of your infrastructure.
