WiFi and keyless entry for holiday apartments
By IPProtec · · 5 min read
Quick answer
In holiday apartments it works best to have one access point per apartment managed from a shared console, isolated guest networks and access control with temporary credentials (PIN, QR or phone) at the street and apartment doors, all monitored remotely.
WiFi: one per apartment
A home router for the whole building rarely reaches well. One access point per apartment, cabled to the shared cabinet, gives stable coverage and is managed centrally.
Keyless entry
- Street door: intercom or reader with a temporary code or QR.
- Apartment door: reader with permissions limited to the booking dates.
- An entry log, useful in case of incidents.
Remote management
Seeing whether an access point is down, issuing a credential or opening the street door for a guest from your phone saves trips.
